The program will offer participants an overview of worldwide and industry trends in energy transition and decarbonization and will introduce current strategies for the oil and gas sector.

International climate agreements and the global advancement of energy transition profoundly alter the operational landscape for oil and gas companies worldwide. Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) is evolving into a crucial mandate from investors, business partners, consumers, and society at large. At the same time, nearly all forecasts agree that even considering the accelerated commissioning of new renewable energy capacities, oil and gas will continue to constitute a significant portion of the energy mix over the next two to three decades. In recent years, the decarbonization of oil and gas companies has gained significant relevance. This program equips participants with a comprehensive understanding of the various decarbonization strategies employed by oil and gas companies, including specific methods. Upon completion, they will be able to judiciously select and apply the most effective strategies and methods for particular situations.
The program addresses not only the leading technologies in energy transition (renewables, storage, and hydrogen) that offer diversification opportunities for oil and gas companies but also those aimed at decarbonizing the oil and gas sector, such as CCUS (carbon capture, use, and storage), methods of deep decarbonization using hydrogen, energy efficiency in asset operations, and the most advanced technologies for emission reduction (including methane), among others. Methods for evaluating the carbon intensity of oil and gas operations and approaches for mitigating their impact are showcased. Practical cases are also included.
